General report
I'm cheesed off, because today was a great stage, ridden in a very docile manner.  I've seen more interesting rest days.  The camera-persons took every angle on every piece of scenery to add as much cinematography as possible to the coverage (as the riders added nothing), but couldn't save the day.  5,15pm was the estimated finish time, the main peloton crossed the line just before 6.30pm...

Skippy report:  Due to today's boring race, today's highlight was the front page of the French daily sporting rag ‘L'Equipe' where behind the foreground shots of Contador & Schelck were two obviously confused fans, standing roadside on the Madeleine.  If anyone need wonder (anymore) why AFL's Richmond is doing so poorly, here's the proof:  http://www.twitpic.com/2595fa & http://www.twitpic.com/2596dp Do they really expect Richmond to be in the race?

Cuisine report:  Chartreuse on ice, livens up every day!

Tomorrow:  Stage 11    Thursday, July 15    180 km     Sisteron → Bourg-les-Valence
Exiting the Alps, the Tour begins its westward course toward the finale in the Pyrénées.  Three stages serve as the transition between France's two major mountain ranges. This Tour avoids the Meditérranean coast, which figured so prominently in the opening week of the 2009 edition, and doglegs northward passing through Bourg-lès-Valance, Bourg-de-Péage, and Mende.  A relatively flat stage between Sisteron and Bourg-lès-Valence will please the sprinters.  (from steephill.tv)

For those in Australia, SBS shows a daily report on the Tour de France, along with many stages broadcast live, catch them if you can.
Not forgetting our own Topbike TV on digital channel 44, check your local guide for details.

The Bike Race:
This year's Tour starts in the Netherlands (making that 3 grand tour prologues in a row, for Holland) belts into Belgium, before following a clockwise trace around France, finishing, of course, on the Champs Elysee in Paris.  July 3-25, 3,596 kilometres, more than enough for anyone.

The Writer:
David Olle's cycling reports are used by ABC radio's 774 DRIVE show in Melbourne, ABC radio

These reports are independent, opinionated, Australian biased, and could miss a day here and there, along with containing the odd error and repeating the odd comment.  We make no apology for this.

We aim to send these reports daily, while any worthy bike race is on.  You have the power to control your interest in these reports, see details below.

We also run good bike tours.
